Introduction
It is because they were concerned with offering their clients honest and professional advice in strategic capital management that Messrs. Robert and François Demers started their own firm, Demers Conseil Inc., back in 1992.
With over 40 years of experience in the securities industry, Mr. Robert Demers is presently the Chairman of the company's Board of Directors. A lawyer by training, he has held the positions of President of the Securities Commission as well as of the Montréal Exchange, and has acted as CEO in numerous stock brokerage firms. During his career, he was also a member on various boards of directors of both local and international companies, such as Hydro-Québec and KSH.
With a financial training and over 20 years experience in the stock brokerage industry, Mr. François Demers has been the President of the company since 1998. Very involved in his field, he is presently a member of the Québec District Council of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada (IDA).
Demers Conseil Inc. is registered with the Autorité des marchés financiers du Québec as an independent stock brokerage firm with unrestricted practice, and is also a member of the Montréal Exchange, the IDA as well as of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF), allowing to reassure investors.
In order to reassure our clients even more Demers Conseil offers them different protection mechanisms:

Financial Institution Insurance Protection: this insurance policy protects the broker and its clients against embezzlement, loss of money and securities following theft or burglary, the forgery of cheques and other notes payable, and losses undergone following the purchase or sale of falsified, forged, lost or stolen securities.

CIPF: this organization protects investors against losses resulting from the insolvency of one of their members, up to 1,000,000 CAD.
•
AIG: this is a private insurance policy subscribed by our firm giving additional coverage to our clients for losses exceeding the limits covered by the CIPF (up to 11,000,000 CAD per account).
